What are the drawbacks of Indian education system and what are the solutions?

INTRODUCTION:
"This must be your EDUCATIONAL Course, this must be your JOB, this must be your FUTURE, this is how you get settled in LIFE. " probably this is a common dialogue in any indian household, sometimes I wonder what exactly education is, is it reading and byhearting the textbooks and notes to write exams? Is it remembering the formula and solving sums? Is it cracking the top exams which is competed by many? What is it actually? Well, according to Google the definition is given as, "The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. " but why don't I see it in any of the schools or colleges in India?
Many students have literally no idea in what streams they are actually interested in, many students don't know why exactly they are studying the course chosen by their parents, so,is it because of our educational beliefs in our country, which stresses only on bookish knowledge, that one must acquire to have a decent livelihood?
DRAWBACKS
• LACK OF PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE:
In India many students lack practical knowledge, theoretically they might be strong but that alone doesn't help the students to face the world. The fundamental problem emerges at an interview table or on the first day of a job, when theory fails to deliver the promise that a degree supposed to provide for a company or organization.
• STRESS AND MENTAL HEALTH:
"Why aren't you scoring well? , look at the topper of your class and learn", " Will you ever study properly? " , "why can't you study and get good grades? ", these are the most common dialogues from many parents and teachers, questions and words like this affect the students a lot, they might take a lot of stress which eventually becomes a serious health issue, students sometimes go into depression, these words and lines put them in a position where they question themselves like, "Am I really unfit to study?" and gradually they go into a stage where they accept that they are unfit and that is worst that can happen.
• LACK OF JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN VARIOUS FIELDS:
"Did you choose arts?, oh man, there aren't many job opportunities in India, you should have chosen something else" this would be the reaction of anyone living in the society full of engineers and doctors. We can barely see anyone choosing arts, the child may have intrest in architecture, photography, drawing, print making any many more, but due to the lack of job opportunities, students are forced to kill their interest in such fields.
WAYS TO IMPROVE THE CURRENT SITUATION:
• The system must focus not only on bookish knowledge but also on practical knowledge, Practical work should include experiments in laboratories, study tours, projects, assignments etc.
• Schools and colleges must provide career guidance sessions for the students to help them find their interests.
• Parents play an important role, they must understand their child and they must be friendly and supporting so that the child has a chance to open up in front of them and tell them what he/ she is interested in, they must support their child's interest and help them.
• The system must support all the fields equally and provide reasonable job opportunities.

"What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning"
                                     - Chuck Grassley.
CONCLUSION
In the coming generations, a student should be able to chase his/her dreams and wishes but not kill his/her dreams and fall into the rat race.
