Civil Engineering Course and its Prospects

What is Civil Engineering?
A proper description of Civil Engineering would be: ‘The art of redirecting and using the resources of nature to create convenient structures to sustain the life of man, without affecting the environment.’
Types of Civil Engineering:
Civil engineering is a vast field of study that can be subdivided into various classifications. Here subdivision of Civil Engineering branches:
General Civil Engineering: This is the most widely adopted classification of civil engineering that deals with the creation of structures like drainage, dams, pavements, housings, electrical supply infrastructure, sewer infrastructure, etc. The main task involved in this type of Civil Engineering is site surveying, planning, and designing of structures.
Coastal Engineering: This is involved with coastal area planning to create structures that support life in coastal areas, creating structures to sustain life even after floods and similar natural calamities, etc.
Construction Engineering: This is involved with the utility of various construction materials and the smooth maintenance of their supply chain.
Earthquake Engineering: This sub-discipline involves the design, building, and maintenance of structures that have the capability of withstanding harsh natural calamities like earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, etc.
Transportation Engineering: This field of civil engineering deals with designing, constructing, and maintaining transport infrastructures and proper transportation of the structures to the desired location.
Urban Engineering: This is generally concerned with town planning with compliance with building codes and regulations to sustain life. This is the field of civil engineering that gives rise to cities and towns and can be considered the driving force behind urbanization.
Water resource engineering: This is mainly concerned with the conveyance of water and similar fluids, from natural resources to the desired location.
Reasons to choose civil engineering as a career:
Civil Engineering is one of the most important as it creates our world a habitable place. It creates buildings, bridges, roads, hospitals, airports, tunnels, stadiums, our beautiful homes and many more. There are hundreds of reasons why you choose Civil Engineering as a career. Some of reasons are below :
High scope of career growth:

Choosing Civil as a career, one can see their career broadening with sectors like Power & Energy, Roads, and Railways, Architecture & Design, Geotechnical, Town planning & Real Estate, etc. Each of the mentioned sectors requires huge civil structures to provide the bulwark of the entire project; these require civil engineers for creating the entire foundation.
Civil Engineering jobs are highly in demand in the market:
As a Civil engineer, one has high flexibility in the job, since he or she can get a job in either government or private sector or can even own a consultancy firm to operate as a self-employed professional.
High Pay potential:
The average salary of a Civil Engineer is quite higher than any other core engineering professional, and it can fulfill all our dreams of living. Since Civil Engineers create the foundation and base structure, they are inevitable to any construction project and get the highest remuneration in turn.
Respected Profession:
Being the creator of the base foundation of every other physical project, Civil Engineers are respected worldwide for their efforts. Progression in the construction of buildings, roads, sewers, and pavements won't happen unless we have skilled Civil Engineers.

For an efficient Civil Engineer, there is nothing like retirement. The career of civil engineers broadens with more and more experience since experience pays off in the quality of tasks they do. Hence there is no such retirement for them; they can be self-employed with their consultancy, after retirement from their jobs.
What is the Future of Civil Engineering?
Civil Engineering is one of the most in-demand careers in the world and with growing urbanization, the importance of civil engineers will always continue to increase.
